Taken from on top of the Empire State Building

I am not a photographer so I lack all that special insight but as a visual artist and viewer I would like to critique this as a composition.

The little bit of green that is captured in this photo adds the appeal of some kind of oasis in an urban environment. The capturing of the water very key and greatly enhances this. Also, the hazy blue green in the background gives this photo a kind of balance in focus between the masses of the closest buildings and the masses of the furthest buildings.

One negative thing about this photo is the fact I would not have a clue where on the earth this would be with out the title. That is just something to consider as you take more pictures in the future. Also city-scapes from all angles have been done countless times so one really has to strive to make theirs unique.

Also, even though many might disagree, this wasn’t a breathtaking shot in my opinion. The ceilings of these building are so cluttered looking.

This has to be my shortest critique yet but I hope it is still of some value.

This breathtaking view appears even more beautiful with the light mist, giving it a dramatical look in a certain way. The picture is a bit tilted, giving it some realism, in my opinion, and making it more interesting. Such views are something we see pretty often, but this picture successfully represents it. That's why I couldn't give 5 stars on originality. You know you like a picture when it gives you chills thinking you could've been there at that moment. Small joys are underestimated and as simple as this can look, it's a great moment shared. Thanks for posting this and showing us such a nice view without having to move one step from our homes.

This is a great work. I've always admired cityscapes. :meow:
